Love is beautiful and soul enriching. Being in love is a truly wonderful feeling, but not all the time does it last. In life relationships come and go. Loved today, rejected tomorrow, and sometimes the end results can be devastating to ones emotional state. Some people find themselves looking to fill that empty void that was once filled with the love they so desired in all the wrong places trying to make their pain go away. Praise the Lord things are not that way with God. Having a relationship with the Lord is one of permanency.
He will never leave nor forsake us, it is we that sometimes turn our backs on him and walk away, it is never him leaving us. The word of God says nothing shall separate us from his love which is in Christ Jesus, our Lord. (Romans 8:38)

This might sound strange but I have always had an attraction to love. I love watching love stories and seeing people in love. Back in 2000 the power of “Love” had moved me to see if I could write a poem in honor of its meaning. Initially I was just going to write a simple poem about love, which I  succeeded at doing but shortly thereafter began to ponder what real, undeniable love truly was, and that was a relationship with Our Father in Heaven, one that as I mentioned above would never end. I would never shed a tear over the loss of God’s love or be anxious of its possible ending. I thought about how He truly loved me so much that he sent his only begotten Son, Jesus, who willingly came into the world to  give his life a ransom for mine. He died so I could be forgiven and have a relationship with God.

Over and over in my mind was his love for me reaffirmed and this is when my thought pattern changed and Jesus became the honoree of every poetic expression I would write thereafter. I wrote my first poem, “I owe him my everything” back in 2000. It has always been my favorite, not only because it was my first, but because it was a life defining moment for me and I know the words came from the core of my heart completely inspired by God. I thank him for reminding me of his love and putting my thoughts back in perspective. I am so grateful to be the daughter of  God (I AM).
